Former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater has said that Raheem Sterling put in a positive performance on his debut for the club.
The England international made his first competitive appearance for City in their 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Monday evening.
Sterling missed a number of opportunities against the Baggies, but Goater has said that it could have been down to nerves.
"I felt it was a good debut," Goater told Sky Sports News.
"The question mark some people have over him is; 'can he finish off chances?' I put it down to nerves on his debut; him not capitalising on the opportunities he had.
"For me, he is an exciting player to come to City. I'm really pleased he has come and I think he will do a superb job for the team, score a lot of goals, and make assists."
Sterling moved to City from Liverpool for £49m last month.
