West Ham United full-back Pablo Zabaleta has warned that former club Manchester City will only continue to improve in the coming seasons.
Man City are on the verge of breaking the Premier League records for most points, most goals and most wins in a single campaign, having already wrapped up the title with five games to spare.
Pep Guardiola has challenged his side to establish themselves as the best team in Premier League history when they take on Huddersfield Town this weekend, but Zabaleta - who spent nine years at the Etihad Stadium - believes that this could only be the start of their dominance after his West Ham side were beaten 4-1 by the champions on Sunday.
"Obviously it's always nice to see the lads. I'm very pleased in the way they've been playing this season and I think they got what they deserved by being champions," Zabaleta told reporters.
"They are such an attacking team, they have a huge talent with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, [Ilkay] Gundogan, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus ... they've been so good so far this season. We tried our best but it was not good enough.
"Listen, the club has a great ambitions and I'm sure they will go for a few good players in the summer to bring players in to improve the squad because they will go for the big trophies next season again. So I'm sure the future for Man City is very bright for the next years."
Guardiola has already revealed that he will look to bring in one or two new signings this summer.
