CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia has accused Yaya Toure of "exaggerating" after the Manchester City midfielder claimed that he was subjected to racial abuse during Wednesday's Champions League clash.
Toure alleged that he was the target of monkey chants from the home support during the match in Russia, but his Ivorian international teammate insists that he did not hear any abuse.
"Yes, they're always noisy in supporting the team and try to put as much pressure as possible on our opponents, but they wouldn't ever allow themselves to come out with racist chants," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "So my Ivory Coast colleague is clearly exaggerating."
City have confirmed that they will be making an official complaint to UEFA over the alleged racial abuse.
