Manchester City have confirmed that they have lodged an official complaint to UEFA regarding alleged monkey chanting by CSKA Moscow fans towards midfielder Yaya Toure.
The Ivory Coast international complained to the match referee during yesterday's Champions League 2-1 victory in Russia about being subjected to racist abuse from a selection of CSKA supporters.
A statement from the former Premier League champions said: "Manchester City FC can confirm that it has today issued a written formal complaint to UEFA regarding the events of last night's game against CSKA Moscow. It follows the complaint which was raised to the UEFA delegate immediately after the conclusion of the game."
UEFA have announced that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Russian outfit over the accusations and setting off fireworks during the match.
