Manchester City and England defender Joleon Lescott has admitted that it will be upsetting to send Wolverhampton Wanderers down to the Championship.
Wolves are bottom of the Premier League table, eight points from safety with four games remaining.
If Queens Park Rangers beat Tottenham Hotspur later today, Wolves will be officially relegated to the Championship if they take anything less than three points from their match against the Citizens on Sunday.
"Relegating Wolves would be very disappointing. It's my childhood club and I have a lot of friends there," said Lescott.
"Terry Connor is also one of the most influential people on my career. To this day, I would say he is probably the best coach I have worked with.
"People may say I have worked with some bigger names but I would still say Terry is the best. He groomed me as a youngster and corrected my mistakes. He helped me learn from them."
Lescott made 212 league appearances for Wolves between 1999 and 2006 before moving to Everton for a fee of £5m.
