Raheem Sterling will start in attack for Manchester City as Manuel Pellegrini's side host Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

Raheem Sterling will start in attack for Manchester City as Manuel Pellegrini's side host Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

The former Liverpool man spearheads the City side ahead of David Silva, Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne in midfield, with Wilfried Bony dropping to the bench.

With City already assured of a place in the last 16, Toure returning as captain in place of Bony is one of four changes made by Pellegrini, as Fabian Delph also comes into the midfield for his first Champions League start to replace Fernando, who is left out of the squad entirely.

The other two changes in personnel come in defence, where Gael Clichy takes the place of his former Arsenal teammate Bacary Sagna at right-back, while Eliaquim Mangala is preferred to Martin Demichelis at centre-back.

For Borussia, who must better Sevilla's result at Juventus to finish third and earn a place in the Europa League, manager Andre Schubert has stuck with the same XI which became the first Bundesliga side to beat league leaders Bayern Munich this season on Saturday.

That means that top scorer Lars Stindl partners Raffael in attack and USA midfielder Fabian Johnson keeps his place alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield.

Manchester City: Hart; Clichy, Otamendi, Mangala, Kolarov; Fernandinho, Delph; Silva, Toure, De Bruyne; Sterling
Subs: Caballero, Maffeo, Sagna, Adarabioyo, Celina, Navas, Bony

Borussia Monchengladbach: Sommer; Christensen, Korb, Elvedi, Wendt; Nordtveit, Dahoud, Johnson, Xhaka; Stindl, Raffael
