Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is planning to beat local rivals Manchester United to the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos this summer, according to a report.
Despite a campaign that could still see the Blues finish with four major trophies, the Chilean coach is keen to bolster his midfield and defensive options and has identified the German international as a key target, the Daily Mail claims.
Kroos was heavily linked with a possible move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, but a deal didn't materialise, and now City are said to be considering a bid for the £25m-rated star.
The 24-year-old has won 41 caps for Germany.
