Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has refused to discuss the potential signing of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
Earlier this week, reports claimed that City were on the brink of competing a deal for the Frenchman after showing a willingness to pay his £60m release clause.
However, despite the expected arrival of Laporte, Guardiola has said that he has no intention of discussing a player who represents another club.
At a press conference, the 47-year-old said: "No, I can't [say anything]. He is a player for Bilbao. It's the same as other players in the clubs, I didn't speak about them. If it happens, it happens, if not then it doesn't."
Laporte has spent his entire career at Bilbao, making a total of 210 appearances in all competitions.
