Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said that "everything is progressing adequately" when it comes to contract talks with Lionel Messi.
The 33-year-old's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, and Manchester City continue to be linked with a move for the Argentina international.
Messi is now thought to be open to remaining with Ronald Koeman's side, though, with a new contract viewed as a serious possibility despite the fact that he attempted to force an exit last summer.
Laporta has now provided an update on the situation surrounding the attacker, who has scored 29 times and registered 13 assists in 39 appearances at club level this term.
"Everything [that has to do with Messi's renewal] is progressing adequately," Laporta told LaSexta.
Messi, who has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, is allegedly desperate for Barca to re-sign Brazilian forward Neymar during this summer's transfer window. body check tags ::
