The MLS have cleared up confusion over Frank Lampard's future by confirming that he will join New York City this summer.
Lampard announced last year that he had signed a contract to play for the MLS side, but he moved to Manchester City on an initial short loan in order to maintain fitness ahead of the American season.
It was announced on New Year's Eve that Lampard will remain at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the season and he will miss the first few months of action in New York, sparking revelations over the nature of the deal between the two clubs.
However, the MLS has issued a statement confirming that Lampard has signed a deal that will see him join his new team in July.
The statement read: "Frank Lampard has signed a contract for NYCFC," with the 36-year-old midfielder heading Stateside at the end of the Premier League season in England."
Lampard has scored seven goals in 19 appearances for City this season.
