Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Columbus Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a back-up to first-choice keeper Ederson following a serious injury to Claudio Bravo earlier in the campaign.
Sky Sports News reports that City are now closing in on an agreement which would see Steffen join the club when the transfer window opens on January 1.
The 23-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a deal in the coming week, with the clubs still negotiating on a fee which is expected to be between £5m and £8m.
Steffen is a USA international having made his debut in January, going on to win six caps for his country so far in 2018.
The shot-stopper has previous experience of playing in Europe, having been on the books at German club Freiburg between 2014 and 2016 before joining Columbus Crew.
