Manchester City 'determined to keep Bernardo Silva this summer'

Manchester City are determined to keep Bernardo Silva this summer amid interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report.

Manchester City will reportedly 'pull out all the stops' to prevent Bernardo Silva from leaving the Premier League champions during this summer's transfer window.

The 28-year-old has again been an important player for the Citizens during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 39 occasions in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering five assists in the process.

Bernardo still has another two years left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, but there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona were heavily linked with the attacker last summer, and the Catalan outfit could potentially reignite their interest during the upcoming market.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have also been heavily linked with the Portugal international, who admitted earlier this year that he was open to a summer exit.

"I'm very focused on this season and it doesn't make sense to talk about leaving because we're in the middle of the season. I won't hide that my goal in the coming years, if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project," Bernardo told Record at the time.

"Going into a new project at the age of 29, I'll only finish this contract probably at 34. If you ask me: what did you think 10 years ago? My goal was to return to Benfica at the age of 32 at the most.

What do I think today? It depends on what happens next summer. I'm not going to lie, it's not something I don't think about. I think about it every year. It has always been a goal."

A recent report claimed that Man City would be willing to let Bernardo leave the club in the upcoming market if they received an offer in the region of £57.6m.

However, according to Football Insider, Pep Guardiola's side have no intention of allowing the midfielder to depart during the upcoming transfer window.

The report claims that Man City are likely to ask Bernardo to stay for at least one more season, with his future potentially being revisited during the summer of 2024.

Bernardo arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Monaco in July 2017, and he has made 290 appearances for the Citizens in all competitions, scoring 52 goals and contributing 56 assists.

Man City's desire to keep hold of the Portuguese is allegedly strengthened by the fact that Ilkay Gundogan could leave on a free transfer at the end of June.

The experienced midfielder is in the final months of his contract with Guardiola's side and is being heavily linked with a departure at the end of the season. body check tags ::
