Manchester City are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Barcelona's Sergi Roberto on a free transfer next summer.
The 29-year-old's existing deal at Camp Nou is due to expire in June 2022, and the Catalan giants are yet to agree an extension with the Spain international.
As it stands, foreign clubs would be free to approach Roberto at the start of next year to discuss a pre-contract, and according to Calciomercato, Man City are monitoring the situation.
The report claims that the Citizens will approach the Spaniard in January 2022 if he still has not penned a new deal at Camp Nou by the turn of the year.
Roberto came through the youth system at Barcelona and has represented the club on 311 occasions, scoring 12 times and contributing 37 assists in the process.
This term, the midfielder has scored twice and provided one assist in seven outings in all competitions.
