Manchester City are preparing to reignite their interest in Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo this summer, according to a report.
The former Barcelona youth starlet has enjoyed a productive Primeira Liga season with the Portuguese giants, racking up two goals and ten assists from 31 top-flight appearances.
Grimaldo has been a staple of Benfica's setup for the past five seasons, but despite having a contract with the club until 2023, his future in Portugal has been called into question.
According to La Razon, Man City - who were tipped to move for Grimaldo a few years back - are keeping a close eye on his situation, with Pep Guardiola chopping and changing his left-backs throughout the 2020-21 season.
Joao Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy have rotated in and out of the side this term - although the latter has been linked with a move away - and Grimaldo moving to the Etihad would see him link up with former Benfica teammate Ruben Dias.
Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, who has scored 13 goals and assisted 41 more in 200 appearances for Benfica since arriving in 2016.
