Manchester City are reportedly prepared to offer Fernandinho a player-coach role in order to retain the midfielder's services.
The 36-year-old has enjoyed a legendary career at the Etihad Stadium, making 369 appearances in all competitions and winning 12 trophies since 2013.
Now in the latter stages of his career, City will naturally want to bring in a younger replacement for the Brazilian during one of the upcoming transfer windows.
However, according to The Sun, club officials are prepared to tempt Fernandinho into a longer stint at the club by offering him a dual-role.
The report suggests that the veteran will make the final decision, with a straight extension to his playing contract also a possibility.
Pep Guardiola has provided Fernandinho with 19 outings in all competitions during the current campaign. body check tags ::
