Coventry City have completed the loan signing of left-back Josh Wilson-Esbrand from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old will spent the rest of the 2022-23 campaign with the Sky Blues who currently sit 14th in the Championship table, just four points behind the playoffs.

Wilson-Esbrand joined Man City's academy from West Ham United in 2019 and won the Premier League 2 title with the club's Under-20s last season.

The highly-rated defender has featured three times under Pep Guardiola, including two substitute appearances in the Champions League this season, but he will now get the chance to gain regular first-team football with Coventry.

Speaking to the club's official website, manager Mark Robins said: "We are delighted to welcome Josh to the club on loan until the end of the season.

"He is a very talented footballer, with pace, power and technical ability, and a lot of potential.

"He has been in and around the first-team setup at Manchester City over the last 12 months and this is his first loan spell away from the club.

"We're looking forward to working with him and thank everyone at Manchester City for their co-operation in Josh joining us for the rest of the season."

Wilson-Esbrand becomes Coventry's second signing of the January window after Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who joined on loan from Arsenal last Friday.

The England Under-20 international is set to compete with Jake Bidwell for a place at left wing-back and the youngster could make his debut when Coventry face Championship leaders Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
