Manuel Pellegrini looking to strengthen Manchester City squad

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini acknowledges the importance of strengthening his squad before the transfer window closes at the beginning of next month.

Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that he is still looking to add two more players to his Manchester City squad this summer.

The Citizens have spent around £53m on new additions already during the transfer window, a large amount of which went towards luring Raheem Sterling to the Etihad.

Boss Pellegrini admits that the spending has not yet finished, however, with speculation linking Kevin de Bruyne and Pedro to the club intensifying of late.

"I think the stronger your squad, the more possibilities you have [to win the title]," the Chilean is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "We have a good squad at the moment but if we can improve it in a couple of positions, it will be better.

"It doesn't mean you are going to win because you have one or two players more but I think it is important to have a strong squad because all the other teams also have very strong squads."

City face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in a battle between last season's top two in the Premier League.
