Manchester City have made an approach for Schalke 04 winger Julian Draxler, according to reports.
Draxler is one of the hottest young properties in Europe and was part of the German squad that won the 2014 World Cup, but he has had an injury-hit season so far.
However, the Daily Star says that Manuel Pellegrini would like first option on Draxler, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, and may use defender Matija Nastasic as bait.
Schalke are said to have made an enquiry for the unwanted Serbian defender, and City are keen to get £10m for the 21-year-old but could be flexible if Draxler is part of any deal.
Draxler has played 80 times for Schalke since making his debut in 2011.
