Wolfsburg boss Dieter Hecking has reportedly decided against considering Kevin De Bruyne for selection ahead of his side's meeting with Schalke 04 on Friday.
De Bruyne has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester City in recent months, and despite suggestions from sporting director Klaus Allofs that a deal was not close, the Belgian is believed to be keen on a switch to the Etihad Stadium.
According to Sky Sports News, the uncertainty surrounding the 24-year-old's future has persuaded Hecking to leave him out for the visit of Schalke, which means that he may have played his last game for the club.
The report suggests that talks between club officials continued after the Champions League draw in Monaco on Thursday.
Ivan Perisic is also expected to miss the game as he continues to be linked with Inter Milan.
