Manchester City's Julian Alvarez has reportedly departed to Spain ahead of a move to Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old has a shimmering trophy cabinet after such a short spell in the professional game to date, courtesy of his time at the Citizens and as part of Argentina's senior side.
Alvarez has lifted the Premier League and Champions League as part of Pep Guardiola's troops, with the attacker securing his most recent English crown last term.
The 36-time international also has a glittering CV on the international stage, having won the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Copa America alongside idol Lionel Messi.
Since switching to the blue side of Manchester in July 2022, Alvarez has scored 36 goals in 103 appearances for Man City across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid 'to complete' deal for Alvarez
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Alvarez has moved to a step closer to an exit from Man City after just two years at the Etihad.
The report claims that the 24-year-old is travelling to Spain on Sunday ahead of a high-profile move to La Liga powerhouses Atletico Madrid.
It is understood that Alvarez will complete medical tests on Monday before officially being unveiled as an Atletico player at a presentation.
The Spaniards and Man City have allegedly agreed on a €75m (£64m) deal for the Argentine, who has already won over 10 major honours as a player.
Alongside the initial fee, the Citizens could also receive up to €20m (£17.1m) in add-ons, meaning that they have made a significant profit on Alvarez.
Who replaces Alvarez at Man City?
Starting 31 matches in the Premier League last season, it is not a stretch to say that Alvarez was a key part of Man City's title-winning term.
That being said, the 24-year-old's appearance figures were arguably inflated by the multiple injury issues of Erling Haaland across the course of the campaign.
Should the Norwegian giant remain fit, Guardiola's side might not feel the impact of Alvarez's departure too harshly, however bringing in a replacement would be ideal.
After an excellent spell at Girona, Savio should be lining up for Man City this season and could turn out to be a perfect Alvarez replacement. body check tags ::
