Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will return to England to continue his recovery from a knee injury he picked up against Southampton in their opening Premier League game of the season.
The 24-year-old was called up for Argentina's 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru, but is now set to go back to Manchester.
"It seems I won't be able to make it to the Peru match - but the effort was still worth it, I'll continue the recovery work at Manchester," Aguero wrote on Twitter.
"Rooting for to the guys for the Peru match, I hope I can join them next time. Returning to @MCFC now to ready for the upcoming challenge."
Argentina defeated Paraguay 3-1 at home on Friday.
