Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has stated that his side cannot win the Champions League this season.
The Dutchman does not believe that United have the strength in depth to go all the way in the competition.
The United manager is quoted by The Telegraph as saying: "I do not think that we are able to win the Champions League now. Maybe next year when we strengthen our selection again.
"But now we have to come as much as possible and maybe we can beat everyone, that I am sure. And we have proven that already, also in the Premier League. But normally we are not good enough to win the Champions League."
On the Red Devils' decisive Champions League group game away to Wolfsburg, Van Gaal added: "Yes, yes, we can win. Because we have also won at home [against Wolfsburg]. It was also a difficult match. I know that Wolfsburg shall not attack too much because with a draw, they continue. We can always score goals."
United will almost definitely require a victory over their Group B rivals to advance to the knockout stages.
