Manchester United are reportedly set to pocket a significant windfall from Jadon Sancho's loan to Borussia Dortmund after they reached the Champions League semi-final.

Manchester United's financial fair play standing received a boost this week as Borussia Dortmund's qualification for the Champions League semi-final triggered another payment as part of Jadon Sancho's loan deal, according to a report.

The Red Devils loaned Sancho back to his former club in January, with Dortmund paying an initial fee of £3m, along with a possible £4m in add-ons, for the English international's services.

The Bundesliga outfit secured their place in the last four of Europe's elite club competition by defeating Atletico Madrid 5-4 on aggregate on Tuesday night and they will now face Paris Saint-Germain for a spot in the final at Wembley.

BVB's victory against Atletico bodes well for Man United's financial situation and their new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, as the club is set to receive a substantial bonus due to Dortmund's success.

Man United set to receive unexpected financial boost from Sancho loan agreement

According to Manchester Evening News, a source from Man United has revealed that the Red Devils have secured a substantial bonus as part of the add-ons included in the agreement from the Bundesliga club following their Champions League quarter-final triumph.

The report adds that further rewards could be in store for Erik ten Hag's side if Dortmund manages to overcome PSG in the semi-final and secure a spot in the final at Wembley on June 1.

Sancho has contributed significantly to Dortmund's journey to the semi-finals, with the 24-year-old delivering standout performances in both legs of the quarter-final victory and the last-16 win over PSV Eindhoven, where he even found the net in the second leg.

Last September, the England international was dropped from United's first-team squad after he publicly contested Ten Hag's statement that his exclusion from the matchday squad against Arsenal resulted from subpar performances in training.

The disagreement and his unwillingness to apologise to the United boss ultimately led to his temporary departure during the January transfer window.

Sancho winfall to improve United's FFP standing

It is understood that United have managed to recoup Sancho's wages for the second half of the season. They will fully recover all expenses for this season if Dortmund triggers every bonus stipulated in his loan agreement.

This additional financial influx enhances the Red Devils' chances of adhering to financial fair play regulations and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, which have proven challenging for many top-flight clubs to meet this season.

Sancho is set to return to Old Trafford after June 30 once his loan spell at Dortmund concludes.

Despite this, the Red Devils are expected to look to sell the winger, for whom they paid £73m in the summer. However, it remains uncertain whether he will rejoin BVB thereafter. body check tags ::
