Manchester United manager David Moyes has hailed Wayne Rooney for his performance against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The England international striker scored his 199th and 200th goals for the Red Devils as they won 4-2 at Old Trafford to begin their Group A campaign on a positive note.
"It was a good job tonight," BBC Sport quotes Moyes as saying. "I said several months ago Wayne Rooney could join the real greats with his goalscoring. He could have got a hat-trick tonight.
"He deserved the ovation he got, he was terrific. I know he has been great in training. He is lean and fit, it showed in his performance.
"Robin van Persie's goal was also great. If we can get those two scoring, they can be formidable for us. The players knew what they had to do, and they went about it well."
Robin van Persie and Antonio Valencia were also on target for United against Bayer.
