Manchester United produced one of the greatest European results in their illustrious history this evening with a dramatic 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Trailing 2-0 from the home first leg, United became the first team in Champions League history to overturn such a deficit to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the competition on away goals.

A controversial VAR-awarded penalty was slammed home by Marcus Rashford in the fourth minute of stoppage time to clinch the historic triumph, after Romelu Lukaku had earlier helped himself to a brace either side of Juan Bernat's equaliser.

Goal

David de Gea: Could do nothing about PSG's goal and was otherwise underworked considering how much possession the home side had. Made routine saves to deny Angel Di Maria and Bernat. (7/10)

Defence

Eric Bailly: A horror show. Played in an unfamiliar right-back role and was torn to pieces by Bernat and Di Maria for much of the first half. Fell asleep for first goal as he let Bernat run beyond him, and his 36th-minute withdrawal through injury was a blessing in disguise. United were a lot more solid without him and it is no exaggeration to say that they probably wouldn't have gone on to progress had he stayed on the field much longer. (2/10)

Chris Smalling: Made a couple of crucial interventions inside his own penalty area to keep PSG at bay when the hosts were attacking at will in the first half. (8/10)

Victor Lindelof: Kylian Mbappe's pace caused him problems at times in the first half, but he coped as well as could be expected and managed to keep the youngster quiet in the second half. (8/10)

Luke Shaw: Could not impose himself on the game in an attacking sense, but did at least quell the impact of Julian Draxler as all of the threat came on the opposite flank. (6/10)

Midfield

Ashley Young: A mixed bag. Cannot be completely absolved of blame for Bailly's first-half horror show, but also improved the defensive performance immeasurably when he dropped back into what is now his familiar role, having started in right midfield. (6/10)

Scott McTominay: Struggled to help stem the PSG tide for much of the first half as they sliced through United on numerous occasions, but was part of a much better performance in the second half. (6/10)

Fred: Thrown back into the United side given their lengthy list of absentees and fired a message to Solskjaer that he should be a more regular feature. Surely his best game yet for United. (8/10)

Andreas Pereira: Struggled to make an impact on the game out on the left side of midfield and could not make any significant contributions going forward. (5/10)

Attack

Romelu Lukaku: His two goals were gifts, but he had to be alert for both of them and he finished the first particularly well to give his side hope inside two minutes. Looks to be back to his very best having now scored two goals in each of the last three games. (9/10)

Marcus Rashford: Was on course for a pretty poor second half before he stepped up to take the tie-winning penalty. Also forced the fumble from Gianluigi Buffon which led to United's second, but it is his decisive spot kick which was his defining contribution to the game. (8/10)

Substitutes

Diogo Dalot: Forced the dramatic late penalty with a speculative late effort which was otherwise flying high and wide. Was a significant improvement on Bailly when he came on and almost forced an own goal in the first half too. (7/10)

Tahith Chong: Came on for just his third senior appearance with United still needing a goal, but almost cost his side by giving the ball away cheaply twice in quick succession after Rashford's penalty. (5/10)

Mason Greenwood: Came on for his debut in the 87th minute and was then on the pitch for one of United's greatest European moments in recent memory. He certainly will not forget it in a hurry. (6/10)
