New England manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that Wayne Rooney will be part of his squad for Euro 2012.
The Manchester United striker is not permitted to feature in England's first two matches of the competition against France and Sweden because of suspension.
However, Hodgson, who was appointed to the role earlier today, has revealed that he will not consider omitting the 26-year-old from his plans.
"I'm looking forward to Wayne Rooney coming to the Euros with us and looking forward to his contribution, even though he can't play in the first two games," Hodgson told reporters.
Rooney has scored 28 goals for the Three Lions.
