The Irish Football Association has confirmed that Jonny Evans has pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers through injury.
The Manchester United defender will miss matches against the Faroe Islands and Greece due to an ankle problem.
United teammate Paddy McNair was expected to replace Evans in the squad, but it is understood that the youngster is suffering with a hamstring strain.
"Jonny Evans has been forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against Faroe Islands and Greece as the result of an ankle injury," read a brief statement on the Irish FA's official website.
Northern Ireland host the Faroe Islands on Saturday before travelling to Greece three days later.
