England midfielder Jack Wilshere has hailed Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United striker scored on 100th appearance for the Three Lions.
The skipper netted from the penalty spot as Roy Hodgson's men recorded a 3-1 win over Slovenia at Wembley in Euro 2016 qualifying.
Speaking to Sky Sports News after the game, Wilshere said: "Wayne has been fantastic for England. I remember watching him burst onto the scene at Euro 2004, and I was 12 with a Rooney shirt, so that shows what he means to all of us.
"He's been an excellent player and an excellent captain."
The victory maintains England's 100% record in qualifying and keeps them top of Group E.
