Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he believes his side deserved their 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup this afternoon.
Eden Hazard's penalty midway through the first half proved to be the only goal of the game at Wembley, with Chelsea holding off some second-half pressure from United to claim the trophy for an eighth time.
United ended the match with 66% possession and three times the number of shots Chelsea managed, but Fabregas believes that those figures flatter their opponents.
"It hasn't been the best of seasons. Sometimes these things happen - look at all these people singing, it's important to finish on a high," he told BBC Sport.
"It was important to keep it tight. We were compact and disciplined and it was a well deserved victory."
Chelsea finished the Premier League season sitting fifth in the table, missing out on Champions League football next term.
