Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has admitted that he is "surprised" by Sir Alex Ferguson's comments regarding his red card in Sunday's FA Cup third round tie.
The defender was sent off for a contentious lunge on Manchester United winger Nani during the Blues' 3-2 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
After the match, United boss Ferguson claimed that Kompany deserved his red card.
"Thanks for the support I'm getting from everyone. I'm surprised at Sir Alex Ferguson's post match comments. Maybe that is a sign..," Kompany tweeted.
"The fans, the players and every single person involved with Man City FC were incredible today. [We were] definitely the moral winners of this game."
City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that the club will appeal Kompany's dismissal.
