Andreas Pereira has said that he is hopeful his performance for Manchester United's Under-21 side earlier this week will have captured the attention of manager Louis van Gaal.
The 20-year-old scored two goals in United's 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, one of which came direct from a corner.
Looking ahead to the weekend's FA Cup tie against League One outfit Sheffield United at Old Trafford, the playmaker has expressed his desire to be involved.
"I think I need some match rhythm so it's good to play with the Under-21s. It's a good level so it's useful to play here tonight and hopefully I can get more minutes," he told MUTV.
"The level of the first team is a bit higher, of course, but both are high intensity so it's good to play here. Hopefully, I can show the manager with my sharpness and the goals that I can maybe play on Saturday."
Pereira's two starts for the Red Devils this season have come in the Capital One Cup.
