Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has said that he is "very happy" to have ended his first season in English football with a trophy.
Rudiger put in a man-of-the-match display as Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 in this afternoon's FA Cup final at Wembley, with Eden Hazard's first-half penalty proving to be the difference between the two sides.
The German defender acknowledged that Chelsea's Premier League season had been "bad" - only managing a fifth-place finish as defending champions - but is pleased to have at least ended it on a high note.
"It is important we lifted the trophy, especially after we didn't play a good season," Rudiger told BBC Sport.
"Chelsea is about winning titles. Although we had a bad season we still won a trophy. Especially for me, this is my first season and I win a trophy. I am very happy."
Rudiger made 44 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season.
