Robin van Persie unhappy with FA Cup schedule

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie believes that playing the FA Cup sixth-round replay against Chelsea on Monday will not provide the players with enough time to recover from today's Premier League matches.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has warned fans not to expect a classic encounter between his side and Chelsea when they meet in their FA Cup sixth-round replay on Monday.

The two sides will be forced to play the fixture just 48 hours after a round of Premier League games due to Chelsea's continued involvement in the Europa League.

However, Van Persie believes that the quality of the match will suffer as a result of the schedule as 48 hours is not enough time for a player to fully recover.

"It is not ideal. Normally on the second day your muscles are quite bad but now we have to play at this certain time," Van Persie told MUTV.

"It is a shame but we can't do anything about it because there are Champions League games in midweek and Chelsea are still in the Europa League.

"We just have to deal with it. People have to realise they can't expect a great game of football because it is not possible. If it happens I am glad, but don't expect it because these games are just too close to each other."

The winners of Monday's match will go on to face Manchester City in the semi-final in April.
