Marcus Rashford's record vs. Arsenal

Marcus Rashford is again expected to be in the starting XI for Manchester United's Premier League contest with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The 24-year-old has started all five of his side's Premier League fixtures this term, scoring his first goal of the campaign against Liverpool on August 22, while he provided the assist for Jadon Sancho to net the winner against Leicester City on Thursday night.

Rashford could again start at centre-forward, although Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag also has the option of moving the England international into a wide area and recalling Cristiano Ronaldo.

Man United will be bidding to make it four straight Premier League wins when they welcome Mikel Arteta's side, who have a 100% record from their five league fixtures this term.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Rashford, who was linked with a switch to Paris Saint-Germain in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, has fared against the Gunners in the past.

Rashford has faced Arsenal on 14 previous occasions in all competitions and boasts a record of five wins, four draws and five defeats against them.

The attacker has found the back of the net on two occasions against the Gunners, both of which have come in the Premier League, while he has also provided three assists in England's top flight versus the London club.

Rashford's Premier League record against Arsenal is played 13, won four, drawn four and lost five, while he has also faced them once in the FA Cup, helping the Red Devils win 3-1 in the fourth round back in 2018-19.

The Englishman made his Premier League debut against Arsenal back in 2016, and he scored twice and provided one assist in a 3-2 victory against the Gunners, with the efforts making him the third-youngest goalscorer for the club in the Premier League after Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck.

Incredibly, Rashford has not scored against the North London club since, but he did provide an assist in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford during the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

The forward also played an important role in Man United beating Arsenal 3-2 at Old Trafford in the league last term, assisting Ronaldo for the Portuguese's first of the match.

Rashford started at centre-forward in his side's Premier League game with the Gunners in Manchester in 2020, but the 20-time English champions suffered a 1-0 defeat to their rivals.

The club's academy product has found it tough against Arsenal since his explosive debut, but he should enter this match full of confidence, with Ten Hag's side now firmly finding their feet after losing their opening two games of the league campaign to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. body check tags ::
