Marcus Rashford's record vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole looks at Marcus Rashford's record against Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of Tuesday's Premier League contest at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford is again expected to be in the Manchester United XI on Tuesday evening, as the Red Devils welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The England international has scored five times and contributed two assists in 20 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2021-22 campaign, including four goals and two assists in the league.

Rashford scored in back-to-back matches against Brentford and West Ham United last month, while he provided the assist for Jadon Sancho to score against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old is likely to retain his spot in the side for the clash with Graham Potter's side, and a win against the Seagulls would move Man United above West Ham United into fourth position in the table.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Rashford has performed against Brighton in the past.

Rashford has faced Brighton on 10 occasions during his professional career, with eight of those matches coming in the Premier League, while he has also locked horns with the Seagulls in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

The attacker has a record of eight wins and two defeats against Brighton, scoring four goals, with all of his strikes coming in the Premier League.

Rashford netted in both top-flight fixtures between the two sides last term, registering in the 3-2 success at the Amex in the early stages of the campaign before scoring in the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

The forward failed to register in his first three Premier League games against Brighton - suffering two losses in the process - with his first strike against them coming at Old Trafford during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Englishman has netted four times in his last five Premier League matches with the Seagulls, including in his last three top-flight fixtures against them at Old Trafford, so he should be full of confidence heading into Tuesday's game, as Ralf Rangnick's side aim to return to winning ways in the top flight.

Rashford has also enjoyed success against Brighton in the FA Cup and EFL Cup, helping his side win 2-0 in the sixth round of the FA Cup in 2017-18 and 3-0 in the fourth round of the EFL Cup in 2020-21.

The attacker has, interestingly, largely played off the left against Potter's side, in addition to starting two league games as a centre-forward.

However, he is expected to feature off the right for the 20-time English champions on Tuesday evening, as Sancho has impressed playing from the left in recent weeks.
