Phil Jones has given Manchester United a 1-0 lead at half time against West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.
There were several controversial decisions from referee Jon Moss in a half where United controlled possession but failed to test the goalkeeper regularly.
After a slow start, the champions recovered to dominate the ball without really creating much against a stubborn West Brom defence.
Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj tried in vain to force the breakthrough but it wasn't until the 28th minute that United managed a dangerous effort on goal, when Rafael forced an excellent save from Ben Foster with a point-blank header.
The Brazilian full-back was involved again shortly after as the visitors took the lead, winning the free kick which allowed Robin van Persie to find Jones, who headed past the goalkeeper.
West Brom responded well with a couple of half-chances for Claudio Yacob and Victor Anichebe but could have been down to 10 men when Foster used his arm outside the penalty area after misjudging a long ball.
The hosts got away with it though, comfortably seeing out the first half.
