Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's Premier League opener against Fulham.
Sports Mole

Almost three months after wrapping up a disappointing 2023-24 season in the Premier League, where they finished eighth, Manchester United will kickstart the new campaign with a match against Fulham at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils failed to replicate their 2024 FA Cup final victory against rivals Manchester City when they matched up in the Community Shield last weekend, falling to a 7-6 penalty defeat after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.

Erik ten Hag recorded an opening-day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in his first season at the club, followed by a victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first matchday last year, and will now be aiming for three points against the Cottagers.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man United's injury and suspension news ahead of their opening match of the 2024-25 Premier League season against Fulham.

Leny Yoro

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: November 23 (vs. Ipswich Town)

Summer signing Yoro is set to remain on the treatment table until late November after suffering a fractured metatarsal in a pre-season friendly fixture against Arsenal.

Rasmus Hojlund

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Southampton)

Hojlund also picked up an injury in that match against Arsenal, suffering a hamstring injury that is expected to keep the striker out of the side until September.

Tyrell Malacia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Brentford)

Malacia was absent for the entirety of 2023-24, last making an appearance for the club in May 2023, and while the Dutchman is closer to a return, he is still expected to be out of the side until late October.

Harry Maguire

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Unknown
Possible return date: August 16 (vs. Fulham)

Maguire was a doubt ahead of the Community Shield against Man City but managed to feature for 58 minutes before being taken off, and the central defender is back in a race for fitness ahead of the Premier League opener.

Victor Lindelof

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Unknown
Possible return date: August 16 (vs. Fulham)

Lindelof was forced off in a pre-season friendly with Liverpool due to a minor injury, failing to make fitness ahead of the Community Shield, and the defender remains a doubt for the match against Fulham.

Luke Shaw

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: August 16 (vs. Fulham)

Shaw last appeared for Man United against Luton Town in February, and despite playing for England at the 2024 European Championships, the left-back is a major doubt for the season opener.

Will Fish

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Southampton)

Fish was taken off just 28 minutes after entering the field during a pre-season match against Liverpool after suffering an impact injury that is expected to keep him out until the middle of September.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man United have no players suspended for this match.
