The Football Association has announced that Michael Carrick has withdrawn from the England squad after injuring his groin in training earlier today.
The Manchester United midfielder underwent a scan after picking up the knock this morning, but the injury, which has been described as minor, has forced him to return to his club.
The FA also confirmed that there are no plans to call up an extra player to replace Carrick for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and friendly against Scotland
The 33-year-old missed the start of this season while recovering from ankle surgery over the summer, only returning to action earlier this month.
