Manchester City will allegedly be without the services of Jack Grealish for Saturday's Community Shield against Manchester United, with the attacker suffering an injury in training.
Grealish had been expected to start at Wembley Stadium, with the England international in strong form for the Citizens during their preparations for the 2024-25 campaign.
The 28-year-old was left out of the England squad for Euro 2024, meaning that he has had a full pre-season for Man City while a number of his teammates have been absent due to international commitments.
According to The Sun, though, Grealish will not be present for Man City against Man United due an injury which he suffered during a training session ahead of the fixture.
As it stands, the extent of the problem is unclear, but there is a chance that he could also be a doubt for his side's Premier League opener, which comes on August 18 away to Chelsea.
Grealish 'ruled out' of Community Shield
Grealish found it difficult to make his mark for the Citizens last season, only managing three goals and three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
The forward only scored three times and registered one assist in 20 Premier League outings, but it still came as a surprise when he was left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.
There had been speculation surrounding Grealish's future earlier this summer, but the size of his wage packet and Man City's valuation made a deal this summer almost impossible.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has been full of praise for the forward's performances during pre-season, recently telling reporters: "What I've seen so far here, one week in the pre-season on tour, I loved it.
Guardiola hails "aggressive" Grealish
"I don't care how he performs, it's every session his commitment and his trying, against Barcelona he made five or six shots, he was aggressive with the ball, that's all, after that his quality will do the rest.
"I know he'll be a father soon and we're so happy for that. All I ask of the players is that - you like to play football, yes, so play.
"Hopefully he can sustain it until the end of the season and like the rest compete with everyone for one place in the starting XI, that depends on him.
"What I see in behaviours, in training and how you're performing, as well as you do the more chance you have."
Grealish made the move to Man City from Aston Villa in August 2021, and he has scored 14 goals and registered 18 assists in 125 appearances for the reigning English champions in all competitions. body check tags ::
