Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane will miss the next month of the season due to a hamstring injury.
The centre-back has only just recovered from a muscular problem that he picked up while representing France during the October international break.
However, the 28-year-old pulled up during Wednesday's Champions League clash with Atalanta BC and was forced off the field in the latter stages of the first period.
Man United have now revealed that the World Cup winner suffered a hamstring issue in the Champions League contest and is likely to spend the next month on the sidelines.
"The club confirms that Raphael sustained a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for around a month," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The centre-back was withdrawn during the first half of the game in Bergamo, with Atalanta leading 1-0. He was replaced by Mason Greenwood and the Reds went on to secure a valuable point against the Serie A side courtesy of a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo."
Varane is likely to miss Man United's next four matches against Manchester City, Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea ahead of a potential return against Arsenal on December 2. body check tags ::
