Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed that the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford will link up with the squad on Saturday for pre-season.
The 20-time English champions started their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Leeds United in Oslo on Wednesday afternoon.
Tom Heaton, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho were among the starters for the Red Devils.
However, the bulk of the squad that travelled to Oslo was made up of youngsters, with a number of first-team players missing due to their international commitments over the summer.
Fernandes, Casemiro, Rashford, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen are among the players yet to return to pre-season training for the Red Devils due to international commitments.
Ten Hag, speaking after the 2-0 win over Leeds, revealed that the squad should be back together on Saturday, although many will not be involved against Lyon next Wednesday.
"I think [the international players are back] Saturday. Those players, most of them will not show up in Edinburgh as well because they need time and to have a good training week," Ten Hag told MUTV.
"They had to have days off and relaxation. Those players played most games in the last season, so they needed that rest. So then we have to bring them back, but you have to do it carefully and you can't go from 0 to 100."
Man United are set to travel to the United States with a strong squad, with their pre-season tour seeing them take on Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
The Red Devils will then return to Europe for their final two pre-season matches of the summer against Lens and Athletic Bilbao, ahead of their Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14.
Fred was not involved in Man United's opening pre-season game of the summer against Leeds, with the Brazil international 'managing his workload', according to a statement on the club's official website.
Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek were left back in Manchester, meanwhile, with the pair continuing their injury recoveries at the club's Carrington base.
Mount started in central midfield on Wednesday alongside Hannibal Mejbri and Kobbie Mainoo, while Amad Diallo was also in the XI, having returned to the club following a successful loan spell at Sunderland.
Man United are working to make more signings ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States, with discussions over a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana advancing. body check tags ::
