Antonio Valencia played 45 minutes for Manchester United Under-21s on Friday as he continues his recovery from a foot injury.
The Ecuador international has not represented the Man United first team for the past five months after being forced to undergo an operation to correct a problem with his foot.
The versatile midfielder took to the field for his club's Under-21 side at Prenton Park, however, and played the first half of the 1-1 draw.
James Weir was on the scoresheet for Man United, with the midfielder cancelling out an effort from Jerome Sinclair to move the Red Devils to the top of the table on goal difference.
