Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was delighted with Marcos Rojo's performance in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Manchester City in the League Cup.
Rojo has struggled for regular action this season, but was thrust into the starting XI for the Manchester derby due to injuries to first-choice centre-back pairing Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
Mourinho, whose team will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League at home to Burnley on Saturday afternoon, branded the Argentine's display against Pep Guardiola's side 'phenomenal'.
"We are used to playing with Bailly and Smalling but we have lost both to injury," Mourinho told MUTV. "We had to play with two left-footed central defenders and Marcos had not played for a while, but he played phenomenally."
Rojo joined Man United from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014.
