Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record against Manchester City ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to lead the Manchester United line when the Red Devils make the trip to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The 37-year-old has struggled for form of late, managing just one goal in the England's top flight since the end of December, and he missed a host of openings in last weekend's goalless draw with Watford.

However, the Portugal international will allegedly again operate at the tip of the Man United attack in Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Ronaldo has scored 15 times and registered three assists in 30 appearances for the 20-time English champions this season, including nine goals and three assists in 23 Premier League outings.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Portuguese has fared against Man City in the past.

Ronaldo has faced Man City on 15 occasions in all competitions during his professional career, boasting a record of nine wins, two draws and four defeats against the Citizens.

The forward has scored five times and registered two assists against Pep Guardiola's side, with four of those goals coming during his first spell at Old Trafford.

All three of his previous European appearances against the Citizens came during his time at Real Madrid, and he netted against the club in the group stage of the 2012-13 Champions League, in addition to helping Los Blancos advance in the semi-finals of the 2015-16 tournament, playing the full 90 minutes of the second leg.

Ronaldo has faced Man City on 11 previous occasions in the Premier League and has a mixed record against them, boasting six wins, one draw and four defeats, scoring three times and registering two assists.

Earlier this season, the Portuguese played the full 90 minutes of the Premier League clash at Old Trafford, with the Citizens running out 2-0 winners following a strong performance.

Ronaldo actually failed to register in his first five Premier League outings against Man City before striking home and away against them during the 2006-07 campaign.

The forward also found the back of the net on his final Premier League outing against the Manchester club during his first spell at Old Trafford, netting in a 2-0 victory in the final stages of the 2008-09 season.

Ronaldo impressed against Man City in the fifth round of the 2003-04 FA Cup, meanwhile, scoring and registering an assist in a 4-2 success at Old Trafford, which proved to be his only outing against them in the competition.

Considering the amount of goals that the former Sporting Lisbon youngster has managed during his professional career, a record of five strikes in 15 appearances against the Citizens is not too impressive, while he has only managed three goals in 11 league matches with the club currently at the top of the Premier League table. body check tags ::
