Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has issued a farewell message to Angel di Maria by confirming the Argentine's move to Manchester United.
While there is no official word from Old Trafford as yet, widespread reports have claimed that the 26-year-old is closing in on a £60m move from the Bernabeu to the Red Devils.
Alonso took to Twitter to wish Di Maria luck at his new club, even though he has chosen to join the rivals of the Spaniard's former club Liverpool.
The 32-year-old, who also made reference to Di Maria's performance in Madrid's Champions League triumph last season, wrote: "Thanks for everything Fideo! I wish you all the best, even at Manchester Utd :) never forget the zigzag in extra-time in Lisbon."
United have picked up just one point out of a possible six under manager Louis van Gaal so far this season following yesterday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
