Manchester United full-back Ashley Young has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Southampton.
Young appeared to elbow Saints midfielder Dusan Tadic in an off-the-ball incident which was not seen by the officials during the second half of the contest at Old Trafford.
The action was picked up by television cameras, though, and the FA has now charged Young with violent conduct.
The 32-year-old could face a three-match ban if found guilty, which would rule him out of the New Year's Day meeting with Everton, Friday's FA Cup tie against Derby County and then a Premier League clash with Stoke City 10 days later.
Young, who has until 5pm this afternoon to respond to the charge, would not be eligible to return until January 20, when United take on Burnley.
