David Beckham reveals that he misses playing for England more than anything following his retirement from the game last year.

David Beckham has admitted that he missed playing for England "more than anything" else since his retirement from football.

The 39-year-old retired from the game in 2013 following an illustrious career across the world, and last played for the Three Lions in 2009 in a World Cup qualifier against Belarus at Wembley.

Beckham is the most-capped outfield player in the history of the country with 115 appearances, 10 short of Peter Shilton's all-time record, and has revealed that he was never prouder playing the game than when he pulled on an England shirt.

"I loved the meet-ups, the games, being captain 59 times, everything about playing for England," he told the Daily Mail.

"They are my proudest times as a player. I miss Manchester United and Real Madrid and all the other teams I played for but I miss playing for England more than anything.

"When England comes around, or they are playing in a World Cup, that's what I miss."

Beckham scored 17 goals for the Three Lions, including three in three World Cup tournaments from 1998 to 2006.
