Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has revealed that he turned down a move to Atletico Madrid in 2013.
The Dutch international, 25, joined United from Ajax last September for nearly £14m.
Blind was close to signing for Atletico on a free transfer the previous year, but he has claimed that he was put off by the move because Ajax would not have received any money in the deal.
"I could have signed for Atletico if I wanted to, but I would not have cost Atletico anything apart from my wages," he told Helden. "They did not really have to make an investment to sign me. For me, that is always a bit of a disadvantage."
Blind scored two goals in 30 appearances for Manchester United during the 2014-15 campaign.
