Michael Carrick insists that nobody at Manchester United is getting carried away with the club's position at the top of the table.

Michael Carrick has insisted that nobody at Manchester United is getting carried away with the club's status as Premier League leaders.

A combination of United's 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City's 1-0 loss at Arsenal earlier today has seen the Red Devils open up an eight-point advantage at the top of the table.

However, midfielder Carrick has insisted that his teammates are only focusing on their next match against Wigan Athletic.

"We're just concentrating on Wednesday night now," Carrick said. "The first thing the manager said after the game was 'be ready for Wednesday' and that is how we all approach things.

"We can't get carried away with what can go on elsewhere. We've got a job to do, and we've ticked one off there.

"But it's a tough game against Wigan. They were unlucky yesterday by all accounts so we'll be ready for that."

United now have six matches remaining.
