Salzburg vs. Brest (Tuesday, 5.45pm)

Aiming for successive Champions League wins against Austrian opposition, newcomers Brest will meet Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday evening.

After beating Sturm Graz last time out, the French side are anticipating their first ever away game in European competition, while their hosts suffered a major setback on the opening matchday.

We say: Red Bull Salzburg 2-0 Brest

Salzburg are sure to seize the initiative in their first home game of the league phase, and their bunch of talented youngsters could overrun a struggling Brest side.

Considering the visitors' recent woes at the back, goals are almost guaranteed for the hosts, who will end their wait for a Champions League win.

Stuttgart vs. Sparta Prague (Tuesday, 5.45pm)

Two clubs that made contrasting starts to the 2024-25 Champions League league phase square off on Tuesday evening, as Stuttgart host Sparta Prague at the MHPArena.

The Bundesliga outfit were left to rue what could have been against Real Madrid as they went down 3-1 to the holders on matchday one, but their Czech counterparts hit Red Bull Salzburg for three without reply.

We say: Stuttgart 3-1 Sparta Prague

Stuttgart do not do boring football matches, with a staggering 37 goals across their eight competitive games so far this season, and the neutrals should be in for an exciting watch once again this week.

Sparta's surprise weekend defeat may still be playing on the minds of Friis's troops, though, and we can only envisage the hosts triumphing over the confidence-depleted visitors on this occasion.

Barcelona vs. Young Boys (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Barcelona will be aiming to bounce back from their first La Liga defeat of the season when they resume their Champions League campaign at home to Swiss outfit Young Boys on Tuesday night.

The Catalan giants suffered a 2-1 defeat to Monaco in their opening match of the competition earlier this month, while Young Boys were beaten 3-0 at home by Premier League side Aston Villa.

We say: Barcelona 2-0 Young Boys

Young Boys are certainly capable of making this a tricky match for a Barcelona team that will have a number of absentees. We are struggling to see a scenario which involves the visitors picking up a positive result, though, with Barcelona likely to have too much for their Swiss opponents on Tuesday night.

B. Leverkusen vs. AC Milan (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

After contrasting results in their first league-phase fixtures, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan will convene at the BayArena on Tuesday evening, both seeking three precious points in the Champions League.

The two clubs have never previously met in European competition, and their first competitive encounter comes after the German champions coasted to victory on the opening matchday and Milan were well beaten at San Siro.

We say: Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 AC Milan

While Leverkusen have only failed to score in two of their last 60 matches, Milan's defence is dubious and can be caught out by teams with sufficient quality to punish them.

The Italian giants are set to start their campaign with back-to-back defeats, leaving them with some catching up to do later on in the league phase.

Dortmund vs. Celtic (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Both big winners on the opening matchday, Borussia Dortmund and Celtic will lock horns in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, when they meet in Germany.

While the Scottish champions have won every game this season, their toughest test yet awaits in Dortmund, where the hosts have scored freely in recent weeks.

We say: Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Celtic

For all of Celtic's excellence in the early stages of this season, the Scottish champions may come up short in Dortmund, as they do not tend to travel well in Europe and a huge 'Yellow Wall' will be roaring their hosts on.

No fewer than 11 of BVB's 18 goals this term have arrived during the final 30 minutes, so eventually they should break their visitors down and wrap up another victory.

Inter Milan vs. Red Star (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

After a battling draw in their Champions League opener, Inter Milan will seek their first win of the league phase on Tuesday, as they welcome Red Star Belgrade to San Siro.

While Inter are a formidable force on home turf, Red Star still await their first away win in UEFA's top club competition since the European Cup era ended.

We say: Inter Milan 3-1 Red Star Belgrade

With a record of nine wins from their last 13 Champions League home matches, Inter start strong favourites to take maximum points in Milan.

Buoyed by a win at the weekend, the Nerazzurri should be back to somewhere near their best, ready to take advantage of Red Star's away-day woes.

PSV vs. Sporting Lisbon (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

The champions of Holland and Portugal meet in the Champions League on Tuesday, when PSV Eindhoven host Sporting Lisbon at the Philips Stadion.

Both clubs have won all seven of their opening domestic fixtures, but there were differing fortunes for the two on matchday one of this competition.

We say: PSV Eindhoven 2-2 Sporting Lisbon

Two dominant sides domestically meet here in a very close encounter that is hard to call, but with great attacking quality on both sides, it is likely to produce goals.

PSV need a result, ideally a win, after their opening defeat, but Sporting are many people's dark horse for this season's competition, and will provide a stern challenge.

Slovan Bratislava vs. Man City (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Manchester City travel to Slovakia for the first time in their history to face Champions League debutants Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola's men are on a rare run of just one win in four, and have surrendered top spot domestically over the weekend.

We say: Slovan Bratislava 0-6 Manchester City

The gulf in class between these sides is clear to see, and City will believe they can get close to their record European win of 7-0, despite coming into this game in an uninspiring run of form.

In what will be Slovan's home Champions League debut, a baptism of fire is on the cards, and after already shipping five at Celtic, if Man City are ruthless, another ugly scoreline could be in store.

Arsenal vs. PSG (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Two sides still waiting for that elusive Champions League title clash in a battle of the behemoths on Tuesday evening, as Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain scrap it out at the Emirates Stadium.

While the Gunners were fortunate to nab a point off of Atalanta BC on matchday one, their visitors were also counting their lucky stars in a 1-0 victory over La Liga surprise package Girona.

We say: Arsenal 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain

While Barcola has filled Kylian Mbappe's boots brilliantly in Ligue 1, a trip to the Emirates is a different kettle of fish for the PSG frontline, who were incredibly fortunate to come away from their clash with Girona as the victors.

As Enrique is still lacking a prolific option in the number nine position, an injury-hit PSG side could be stunted by their English counterparts, who may very well need just one set-piece to sink the French champions and get off the Champions League mark at the second attempt.
